COVID-19 update from The Lock Inn and the Old Smithy tearoom

The Lock Inn and the Old Smithy Tearoom, Wolverley

As a family-run pub we’re very proud that our pub and tearoom are at the heart of the community. We are closely monitoring the daily Government guidelines and following their instructions.

 

Andrew and the team wanted to write to you directly to keep you informed of the steps we’re taking, and what we’re asking our customers to consider when they visit us, at both the pub and the tearoom, following the recent outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

 

The safety and well-being of both our customers and our team is our number one priority.

 

Based on the latest Public Health England guidelines we have put enhanced health and hygiene measures in place to help ensure our customers have a safe and enjoyable visit, and so our team is being looked after. These include:

  • Ensuring all team members wash their hands every 20 minutes
  • Frequent sanitising of all items you may have contact with in our venues, including the toilets, tables, chairs, tills, menus, cutlery, surfaces, crockery and glasses.
  • Setting tables only after you’re seated, to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness. In addition we will now no longer be serving condiments in bottles, sauces will only be available in sachets.
  • We’ve also made the decision to remove some tables to better ensure there is a 2 meter distance wherever possible between you and other customers. In the tearoom, due to it’s small size, we recommend customers to wrap up and enjoy sitting in the lovely garden.

If you’re sat in the pub and would like to move tables so there is a greater distance between you and other customers, and we can accommodate it, we will happily move you.

  • We take our team members’ health seriously and if it’s needed we’ll take the necessary action to make sure they stay fit and healthy.

In return we kindly ask our customers to:

  • Postpone your visit if you’re feeling unwell. If you’ve booked a table or event with us please keep us posted of any changes and we look forward to welcoming you back to The Lock in the future.
  • Postpone your visit if you have recently visited one of the countries listed by the Government that requires self-isolation these include but aren’t limited to China and Italy. And, if you’ve recently been into contact with anyone who has self-isolated or shown some of the symptoms described by the NHS.
  • Understand we always offer a warm welcome but that won’t be accompanied with a handshake or any other physical contact.
  • Please use the bathroom facilities to wash your hands thoroughly when you arrive and leave or as often as possible.
  • Consider if when you’re at The Lock you can pay for your food or drink by contactless card payments to keep contact to a minimum.

 

This is not an easy time for anyone, and the situation is changing rapidly. For now, we are operating as much as possible as business as usual, responding to the Governments guidelines as they are updated.

 

If there’s anything else we can do to make your next visit more comfortable please just ask a member of the team.
